Faith Presbyterian Church, Fannin County Family Connection, Snack in a Backpack, Temple Baptist Church, and St. Luke’s Anglican Church have joined together to offer a free Summer Meal Program for Fannin children in need ages 18 and under. Your contributions are needed due to the increased number of families in need and the shortage of available food from our traditional sources. We welcome and invite all local churches, area food programs, community organizations, and caring citizens to assist us in providing food insecure children with a nutritious meal over the summer school break.

I have volunteered for the Fannin Summer Meal Program for the past 3 years. While our primary purpose is to distribute food and meals for the Summer Meal Program, we have also been able to provide a helping hand whenever there was a specific family need. This program has allowed me to form relationships with the children as well as their parents and grandparents. At the end of last summer, we provided backpacks full of school supplies and books that were gratefully accepted and appreciated by these families.

As a volunteer with the Summer Meal Program, I have delivered meals to children in need over the past 3 years. On delivery day the children greet me with hugs and thanking me for their meals. The parents have always been grateful and appreciative of the food distributed weekly over the summer. This program provides nutritious food to children who would not receive daily meals during the summer break from school.
