Snack in a Backpack

How Does Hunger Affect Health?

More than half a million children in Georgia live in food-insecure households where they do not have daily access to healthy food. Lack of nutritious food can have life-long effects on their health. Children who are food insecure are more likely to have:

·Asthma

·Anemia

·Anxiety
·Developmental risk
·Diabetes
·Hyperactivity
·Low birth weight

·More frequent colds & stomach aches

·Obesity
·Tooth decay

With your help, Snack in a Backpack can provide healthy, nutritious food for children during school weekends and vacation breaks year-round and impacts their health long-term.
